Challenge Obesity 5k Recap

Saturday was our blogger 5k, the Challenge Obesity 5k! Four bloggers came together to run and make a difference for everyone losing weight and having lost weight in the past! All in all, it was a great and SUPER supportive group of runners! 

Myself, Lisa, Cindy and Jen (please click and follow to their blogs!) 

At the registration table, we were asked if we have lost weight and then REGARDLESS of the amount, everyone cheered for us! It was fantastic and supportive! I wore the race tee shirt since I didn't have a cool, blog or goal specific one like Lisa and Jen--next time! 

I DID have a pained look on my face in nearly every photo snapped. I have got to work on that smiling thing! I promise, I am ok in this photo, really!

Official Time: 25:11, I guess I came in 3rd out of all the 111 women finishers, wow!

Jen and I at the finish line! She rocked it and was an inspiration! 

SO many people had success stories, many of them wore them on their shirts, like Lisa, Jen and this gentleman who has apparently lost weight, and never found it again. Thank goodness! This was very creative! 

Cindy also raced and finished! It was her first 5K and we are all so proud! She is going to be a running machine. Rumor has it, she has another 5k in her future! Cindy and Jen:

Some of the bloggers and friends had brunch afterwards, I had a spinach omelet, toast with raspberry jam and an obscenely huge side of bacon that I had no business eating. Sorry, I "lost" the picture, ahem. 

Later that afternoon, I also tried my hand at a new Green Monster. The Chocolate Cherry bomb

2C. Spinach
15 frozen cherries
1 banana
1 T. cashew butter
1-1.5 Cups chocolate Silk soymilk

It was good, but next time I will only use a half a banana and maybe 2 or 3 more cherries! I liked the chocolate Silk instead of any kind of powder or syrup. I am sure you could use regular soy, rice or almond milk and add a packet of chocolate Amazing Grass for the same effect!
