Success Story: A Knack for Nutrition

Happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's midweek already, the days just fly by when you are having fun. Are YOU having fun? Make sure to take the time to enjoy your everyday life, it's so important.

This months success story is from Jenn over at A Knack for Nutrition!

I started following her on twitter and reading her blog as she started her post college journey to being....a personal trainer! As they say, like attracts like. Here is her success story, enjoy!

Hi everyone. I’m Jenn and I write about fitness, food, running, and random daily musings at A Knack for Nutrition. I’m so pumped Mary asked me to write a ‘success story’ guest post for her blog. Talk about flattery. Can you feel me blushing through the screen? No? Well that’s awkward… let’s just move right along then.

Mary and I have a lot in common. I’m finally figuring things out and living my life the way I want. But let me just start from the beginning. For a long time (I’m 22, so a long time = high school and college), I always did what others expected me to do. Relocating from Arkansas to Syracuse, NY (go Orange!) for college too a toll on me, both mentally and physically. To put it bluntly, I blew up and found myself completely out of touch with what my body needed. Although I always maintained an exercise routine, I look back on those days and know that I felt like crap because I ate crap.

Somewhere along the way I began learning about nutrition. I started reading blogs and quickly filling up my Google Reader account. I threw myself into the social media whirlwind that is Twitter and I started talking to other people that were struggling to get their weight under control.

France!

After arriving home from a 6-week study abroad program in Strasbourg, France I started running. My weight had crept up again and I was so uncomfortable in my own skin. Running in the summer heat in Arkansas was one of the dumbest ideas I have ever had. I was slow, sweaty, and miserable for a long time. But one day everything just sort of clicked and running, fitness, and healthy living became ‘my thing.’

Sure, I still have some weight to lose, but I know that will happen in time. For now, I am reveling in my recent successes (becoming a certified Personal Trainer and finishing my 2nd half marathon 11 minutes faster than my first!) and trying to take things one day at a time. Oh, and find some clients! ;)

Thanks again Mary, for letting me share my story. Come say hi to me if you’ve got the time!

Thanks Jenn! Way to follow your dreams!

Was there a turning point in your journey where you KNEW what you were called to do?? Also, If you have a success story to share, let me know and you can be next! Have a happy Wednesday!
