Health and Practicing Gratitude

Happy Day people--what's the good news?? Today is unique and will never happen again, so make it great!  

Amanda at Run to the Finish posts a gratitude journal at the end of every blog post. Do you read her stuff? You should, she is really great! It was one of the things that inspired me to start my 30 days of a gratitude post on the Facebook, I am doing it on my personal one for March and will switch to fit this girl for April. 

Either way, it's a great way to force yourself to take stock of your value in life--we all have SOMETHING to be grateful for, and on those days when you can't think of anything, you have to come up with even just the smallest thing for accountability. It works, I swear. 

Being grateful or having gratitude does a ton of great things for your body and mind:  
  • Gratitude helps you cope with and reduce stress
  • It multiplies, the more gratitude you have the more you will see
  • Grateful people take better care of themselves
  • Grateful people engage in healthier activities
  • Gratitude boosts your immune system (!!)
  • Grateful people are more satisfied with their life--we all want that!

HOW to practice gratitude: 

Find a positive spin in every situation-soon none will seem that bad. 

List positive things in your life-- people, jobs, friends things you enjoy. 

List 3 positive things that happened in one day-journal them for 30-60-90 days or a year. 

List your life accomplishments, no matter how small. 

Daily talk to yourself in an affirming and positive way--reflect on what you did well and speak positive about your family's future!

Daily go out of your way to do or say something someone else will be grateful for.
