Wednesday: Word & Weight

WORD & WEIGHT

Ephesians 4:29-30

Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.
Don't grieve God. Don't break his heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don't take such a gift for granted.


This is for our own GOOD!! God is a speaking spirit, who spoke the world into existence, He spoke to his people in the Bible and He speaks to us today. He KNOWS there is power in words and if we get in the habit of talking idle, foul or negative, then it will be a down fall for sure!  

He is out to make us FIT for HIMSELF, for His use and his glory and that includes our words! SO many times in my life, I find myself just chattering idly...I think it's called GOSSIP technically. Not hurtful, but just unnecessary. I don't need to casually chatter about what so and so did or said, even if it's not against them. If we say ANYTHING it should be building that person up!!  

And negative words, discouragement should have NO place. It's so hard to take captive thoughts before they turn into words we speak, but that is the goal! Change your mind, change your language, change your LIFE!! 

Save DIRTY for the GYM!! 


Weight: Lats

I love working my back. Love, LOVE, LUUUVE.  It's a huge calorie burner, it's sexy, it's functional and it's FUN!! One of my FAVE moves for my back is the lat pull down. Usually a machine, sometimes with a cable pull, sometimes with a fixed arm. Always awesome. 


Keys: 
 Take a WIDE grip. The wider the grip the more you engage your Lats. 
When you pull down, lift your chest up to meet the handles, careful not to cave your shoulders forward! 
Pause just a second at the bottom and contract your muscles
Release up slow, careful the handle doesn't jerk your arms! Use your muscles to release evenly

Variations: 
Doing negatives, pulling down, holding and releasing up nice and slow. 
Doing a wide body row on a machine like a smith machine or using a TRX. 
Doing a wide grip pull up on a bar or on a assisted chin up machine.
